Opening of the poem

The poetess begins to prove the fact of expressing her own feelings and experiences. On Friday she drove from home to the Cochin +airport. The mother of the poetess was sitting beside her in the car who was dozing with her mouth opened. When the poetess noticed looking at her pale face, she found it grey like ash. It looked as if it had been a dead body. Having realized the fact that her mother needed help and attention she felt spiritual grief.

Trial to hide anxiety

The poetess mother was Sixty-Six. She was worried to think that her mother won't live longer. To hide her anxiety the poetess looked at the world outside. The outside world was full of life, happiness, and activities. The young trees were sprinting. The merry children were lively and energetic without any tensions and worries.

Familiar ache

After reaching the airport the poetess had to go to security check. Her old mother was standing a few yards away from her. When she looked at her mother, there came the same familiar ache of childhood. She saw the colorless, lifeless, and pale face that looked like a late winter's moon. It looked similar because both had lost shine and vitality. Just to hide her ache she told her mother that she would see her soon.

To sum up the poem, the poetess has tried to make it clear that in old age people need help and attraction but it does not mean that they will ask for it. It is our responsibility to fulfill their need recognized at the time.
